Osun 2026: Muslims warned against violence

Muslims in Osun State have been warned against political violence, before, during, and after the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
President, Osun State Muslim Community (OSMC), Alhaji Mustafa Olawuyi, gave the warning on Friday in Osogbo, the state capital.
This was during an interactive session with the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rt. Hon. Najeemdeen Folasayo Salaam, at the OSMC Secretariat.
The president condemned the recent reported incidents of political violence in many parts of the state and advised Muslims to stay safe and shun violence.
Olawuyi also advised politicians in the state to fear Allah and focus their campaign messages on issues rather than hate speech.
The OSMC president lauded the ADC candidate for his antecedent when he served as Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly and charged him to sustain his good deeds.
The Chairman of Osun State Shari’a Panel and Chief Imam of Telemu, Sheikh Musa Raji, and a prominent imam, Sheikh Hasim Olapade, appealed to politicians, particularly the governorship candidates, to ensure that they fulfill their campaign promises after the election.
Salaam assured the people that he would move the state to higher heights if elected as the next governor on August 15.
The ADC candidate used the occasion to highlight his agenda, which includes economic, educational, agricultural, and infrastructural development as well as welfare of civil servants.
He promised to introduce initiatives that would make life better for the people of the state, especially the vulnerable such as persons with disabilities, the aged, and the downtrodden.
