Remi Tinubu Launches APC Women Mobilisation Group, Tinubu Torchbearers

First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu on Wednesday launched the Tinubu Torchbearers (TTB), a political mobilisation group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) designed to bolster support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign.

The launch event, held at the Old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, drew APC women leaders and stakeholders from across the country.

The First Lady called on women to take an active role in championing the administration’s achievements and carrying the message of the Renewed Hope Agenda to communities at the grassroots level, right down to wards and polling units.

She described the TTB as a movement built on the values of service, patriotism, and collective responsibility, stressing that women are indispensable to grassroots mobilisation in support of the administration’s reform agenda.

She noted that the government’s ongoing reforms spanning agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare, education, security, and job creation require sustained public awareness and community engagement to achieve broader acceptance and impact.

Senator Tinubu emphasised that the administration came into office with a clear mandate to reposition Nigeria through bold reforms, and that platforms like the TTB are vital to ensuring that government policies translate into tangible benefits for ordinary citizens.

She also commended APC women for the role they played during the recent party primaries, describing the process as largely peaceful and a reflection of the party’s internal stability.

In a particularly noteworthy announcement, the First Lady pledged to personally donate vehicles to APC women leaders in Abia, Anambra, Bauchi, Osun, and Oyo States, to support their grassroots work.

She was emphatic that the vehicles were personal gifts to the individual recipients and not party property, urging the beneficiaries to register them in their own names.

APC National Women Leader Dr. Mary Alile Idele said the TTB initiative would deepen mobilisation efforts across all 774 local government areas in the country, with a focus on advocacy, voter education, and civic engagement.

Minister of Women Affairs Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim highlighted ongoing reforms in her ministry aimed at strengthening child protection, ending child marriage, and expanding economic opportunities for women.

She also disclosed that a proposed universal cash grant for children is currently in its technical design phase.

Also addressing the gathering, APC Deputy National Chairman (South) Dr. Benjamin Nwoye, who represented the party’s National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, described the TTB as a robust platform for deepening grassroots support for the administration’s policies across the country.
