A woman was allegedly gang raped and left in a field after being given a spiked drink. The horrifying incident happened when the woman had gone to collect animal fodder.

Police say an investigation is underway and a manhunt has been launched for four suspects following the alleged attack. As reported by the Times of India, the 24-year-old victim’s terrified family began to search for her after she did not return home, eventually discovering her in a nearby forest.

The incident reportedly happened in a village in the Muzaffarnagar area of India on Saturday, June 13.

As reported by the Express, a number of horrific alleged attacks have happened in recent weeks. On June 3, a 41-year-old woman reported being gang-raped by a group of 10 people in Karnataka, south west India.

The attack went unreported for five days but after video footage of the incident began circulating the woman spoke to police.

The alleged victim said she left home after an argument and was walking to her parents’ home when she was approached by two men who claimed they wanted to help her.

They then gave her a drink which was believed to have been spiked with a sedative before being taken to a farm and raped.

A police spokesperson for the Davengere region said: “We have secured all 10 accused in the case. Further investigation is underway.”

The spokesperson added that the victim underwent a medical examination as part of the investigation, with the crime scene also examined for forensic evidence and to determine the sequence of events.
