Xenophobia: No evacuated Nigerian committed any crime, only attacked because of skin colour – NIDCOM

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, says none of the 258 evacuated Nigerians from South Africa committed any crime.
Featuring in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Chairmen of the Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, lamented that the only crime they committed was the colour of their skin, because they are black immigrants in the country.
Dabiri-Erewa was speaking on the evacuation of Nigerians from South Africa, expressing happiness on the effort of President Bola Tinubu, ensuring that they returned to Nigeria.
“I tell you something about those 258 that came in. None of them committed any crime. The only crime they committed is the colour of their skin. They are black migrants in South Africa.
“We are happy that President Tinubu ensured their return. Then also on ground was MTN, who gave 100,000 naira to each one of them and transferred to them 50,000 airtime.
“So now, we are onto the reintegration stage. It was a very seamless multi-agency collaboration, and we call on state governors to do what Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State did. He gave one million naira to each Imo indigene among the returnees,” NIDCOM boss said.
