20-year-old kills self after alleging rape by content creator + Video

In a tragic incident, a 20-year-old lady, Favour Agbro, has died by suicide after allegedly being raped by a content creator who had promised to train her in content creation in Delta State.
The tragedy has triggered widespread public concern and renewed calls for justice over sexual violence and the protection of young women in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Delta State Police Command has arrested the suspect, Ifeanyi Ogbonna, 40, popularly known as “Odogwu of Asaba,” in connection with the alleged rape.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Wednesday.
Edafe said the arrest followed a petition alleging that on June 1, 2026, the deceased travelled to Asaba at the invitation of Ogbonna.
According to the police, Ogbonna had invited her online under the guise of mentoring her on how to monetize her TikTok and Facebook pages.
Upon her arrival, Ogbonna allegedly took her to a local hotel room, where he violently assaulted and raped her.
Traumatized by the ordeal, Favour returned home and disclosed the incident to her family.
She recorded a final video message explicitly naming “Odogwu Asaba” as the reason for her distress.
Following the trauma and feeling discouraged about receiving justice, she tragically committed suicide by ingesting a toxic substance.
Edafe said: “Upon receipt of the petition, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, directed the Area Command, Effurun, to carry out an immediate and thorough investigation into the allegations.
“Acting on the directive, operatives of the Command swiftly commenced investigation, leading to the arrest of Ifeanyi Ogbonna, also known as ‘Odogwu of Asaba.’
“During preliminary investigation, the suspect reportedly made useful statements to the police, while further investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case.”
The police spokesman said the Commissioner of Police has assured the deceased’s family and members of the public that the matter would be investigated thoroughly and professionally.
“CP Yemi Oyeniyi has assured the family of the deceased and the public that the case will be thoroughly investigated and that no aspect of the allegations will be overlooked.
“He further reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring that the investigation is conducted professionally and that appropriate legal action is taken in accordance with the law,” Edafe stated.
Police said investigations are ongoing and urged members of the public to allow the process to run its course, stressing that the suspect remains under investigation while the full circumstances surrounding the allegations are being established.
