Armed police arrest England and Argentina fans as brawl erupts outside Atlanta Stadium

A number of supporters were detained by officers following the heartbreaking 2-1 loss for the Three Lions.
Argentina fans were seen arguing with police outside of the stadium in Georgia.
A small group of fans donning the England shirt were placed in handcuffs after the altercations.
Images from the scene show arrests being made, with scraps also breaking out on English soil post Argentina’s come back.
Videos shared online show fights in Birmingham, London and New York as fans of the two teams lock horns.
The tension comes after Argentina players celebrated their victory by holding up a sign claiming the Falkland Islands.
Due to history on and off the pitch, hostility was rife before the semi-final had kicked off.
Argentina vice-president Victoria Villarruel stirred things up before the game with a post on X, saying: “This is not just another match. I’m not going to be politically correct – against the English, it’s always something more. Long live Argentina! Because until our very last breath, we will reclaim what is ours.”
The game ended with an emotional loss for England after Gordon secured Morgan Roger’s cross nine minutes into the second half.
However, with just six minutes left to play the Three Lions fell 2-1 down.
Messi delivered twice with assists that saw the ball hit the back of Pickford’s net, leaving the team and the country devastated.
