Veteran Fuji musician Yisau Ayinde Abiola, popularly known as Baba Melody, has described Fuji music as a melodious genre that has remained close to his heart throughout his career.
Reflecting on his journey, he recounted overcoming a number of challenges, including a period when he lost his voice, as well as surviving several road accidents while travelling for performances.
He said that despite these setbacks, he was able to recover and continue his career, particularly following a visit to Saudi Arabia.
Speaking during a recent interview, the Fuji artist revealed that he never received formal vocal training but naturally gravitated toward the high-energy Fuji style, which went on to shape his musical journey.
He explained that he earned the nickname “Atiba” because of his close relationship with the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Atanda Adeyemi III.
The Fuji veteran, who has released several albums over the years, disclosed that he is set to mark 45 years on stage this July, describing it as a major milestone in his career.
He also expressed appreciation to fellow Fuji artistes Ayinde Merenge and Sefiu Alao for their unwavering support and encouragement throughout his journey, and reaffirmed his enduring passion for Fuji music while thanking his fans for standing by him over the decades.
