Burna Boy Breaks World Cup Music Record With Shakira Collaboration

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy continues to set records with his collaborative World Cup song alongside Shakira, as “Dai Dai” overtakes “Waka Waka” to become the highest-charting World Cup song in history.
“Dai Dai” climbed 25 spots this week to peak at number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100, surpassing Shakira and Freshlyground’s “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).”
The song also reached number 3 on the Canadian Hot 100 this week and is currently in contention for the top spot on the UK Official Singles Chart.
Meanwhile, Billboard has discontinued its World Digital Song Sales chart, with the final issue dated June 27, 2026.
The chart had ranked some of the most commercially successful songs from regions including Nigeria.
Asia, the Caribbean and South Africa, among other territories, and had previously been topped by Nigerian artists such as Wizkid, Mr Eazi and Rema.
