Emotional scenes were witnessed outside the court as supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) gathered to show solidarity with Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, following his sentencing.
The supporters were seen encouraging the former Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman to remain strong as he begins serving his sentence, with some expressing hope that the difficult period would eventually become a story of resilience and perseverance.
Drawing comparisons to the imprisonment of former South African President Nelson Mandela, some supporters said they believe Wontumi’s current situation will one day be remembered as a chapter of endurance in his life.
The emotional display attracted attention from onlookers, as supporters continued to chant and offer words of encouragement outside the court premises.
