FG Unlocks MSME Growth: 250,000 Businesses to Receive Free CAC Registration

The Federal Government has launched a significant nationwide initiative aimed at bolstering the formalisation of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by offering free Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) business name registration to 250,000 eligible entities. This strategic programme, a collaborative effort between the CAC and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), with the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, seeks to dismantle key barriers to business growth and enhance the operational landscape for Nigerian entrepreneurs.

This initiative directly addresses the pervasive challenge of informal business operations, which often impede MSMEs’ access to crucial financial resources, government support programmes, and expanded market opportunities. Upon successful submission, eligible candidates will be contacted with further instructions. Notably, existing members of the SMEDAN database who are yet to secure CAC registration are automatically eligible and need not initiate a new application process.

The CAC is foregoing approximately ₦3 billion in registration fees, while SMEDAN commits to providing essential post-registration support.
