House of Reps members in rowdy session over motion to summon President Tinubu

The House of Representatives was thrown into a rowdy session today, July 8, following a motion moved by Hon. Mascot Ikwechegh for President Tinubu to be summoned over the ‘poor implementation of the budget and delays in the release of funds to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). “
The motion sought to address concerns over the pace of budget execution and the impact of funding delays on government operations.
‘’Agencies are not being funded. Our people are k!dnapped every day. Heads are being chopped off on national television every day. We want to invite the President of Nigeria as our father, to come and explain to us why we are spending trillions of Naira doing coastal roads, yet Nigerians are dying” he said
While presenting the motion before the house, a heated exchange erupted with those against the motion asking Ikwechegh and others in support of his motion to sit down.
The heated exchanges disrupted proceedings and led to a prolonged debate that lasted for about 30 minutes.
At the end of the deliberations, the Speaker of the House, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, overruled the motion.
Abbas explained that the prayers contained in the motion as read on the floor differed from those contained in the document originally submitted by the sponsor, describing it as a deviation from the approved text.
