Man Charged With Double Murder After Shocking Discovery in Sussex Home

A man has been charged with double murder after two bodies were discovered inside a home in a seaside town in Sussex, England.

Police were called to an address on Seven Acre Close, St Leonards-on-Sea, shortly after 4.30am on Tuesday, June 30, following reports that a man and a woman had sustained injuries.

Officers subsequently found the bodies of 66-year-old Adrian Horton and 46-year-old Uschi Schild inside the property, and their next of kin have since been informed.

Sean Gray, 58, of no fixed address, was arrested shortly afterward at a property on Battle Road.

Sussex Police have confirmed that he has now been charged with two counts of murder and is due to appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Friday, July 3.

This follows an earlier report that a 58-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of double murder in connection with the deaths.

Neighbours reportedly said they heard a disturbance at the property the night before the bodies were found.

One resident, who asked not to be named, said they had heard a fight the previous night involving what they believed were two men and two women, adding that the overall scene had the appearance of a murder.

Detective Superintendent Jay Mendis-Gunasekera described the incident as tragic, saying his thoughts remained with the families, friends and loved ones of those who died during this difficult time.

He said the investigation remained fast-moving as officers worked to establish the full circumstances surrounding the deaths, adding that the suspect and the victims were believed to have known one another and that police were not currently seeking anyone else in connection with the case.

He said officers continued to carry out enquiries at the address and in the surrounding area, with an increased police presence remaining in place while those enquiries continued.

He thanked officers for their work on the case and the local community for their patience, cooperation and the information they had shared, while renewing an appeal for anyone with relevant information, including CCTV, doorbell, mobile phone or dashcam footage, to come forward.

Police continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with relevant footage to contact them as the investigation continues.
