Police arrest suspect for m8rder of 30-year-old man in Adamawa

Adamawa State Police Command has arrested one Abubakar Musa in connection with the alleged m8rder of a 30-year-old man, Nathaniel Yusuf, in Yola North Local Government Area.

The spokesperson for the command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, July 20, 2026 said the arrest followed a report lodged at the Divisional Police Headquarters by the victim’s sister, Grace Yusuf. 

According the the PPRO, she alleged that her brother had been attacked by the suspect.

“The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested Abubakar Musa in connection with the alleged culpable homicide of Nathaniel Yusuf, 30, of Jambutu Ward, Yola North Local Government Area,” the statement read.

“The arrest followed a report made at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Kofare, by Grace Yusuf, a sister to the deceased. She alleged that her brother had been attacked by the suspect.

“Acting swiftly on the report, police operatives responded to the distress call, visited the scene, rescued the victim, and rushed him to the Specialist Hospital, Jimeta, for urgent medical attention. The suspect was also arrested at the scene.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim sustained severe injuries, including fractures to both legs, his right hand, and head injuries after allegedly being attacked with a stick by the suspect.

“Despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life, he was later confirmed d3ad by a medical doctor while receiving treatment.

“The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, *CP Kabiru Umar Hassan, fdc, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yola, to take over the case and ensure a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution of the suspect in accordance with the law.

“The deceased’s body has been deposited at the medical facility for autopsy, while investigation is ongoing.

“The Command reassures members of the public of its commitment to ensuring justice and urges residents to remain law-abiding and continue to support the Police with credible information that will aid ongoing investigations.”
