Philip Grenz, longtime agent to Hollywood veteran Sam Neill, has disclosed the cause of the actor’s death.
Neill, best known for playing Dr Alan Grant in the Jurassic Park franchise, died on Monday in Sydney, Australia, in what was described as sudden and unexpected.
According to a BBC report, Grenz spoke with the actor’s grieving family to correct what he called inaccurate and outright falsehoods circulating in the media, before deciding to share an update on the actual cause of death.
The agent revealed that Neill died of pneumonia, having previously fought off and beaten lymphoma through a new treatment known as CAR-T therapy.
In his statement, Grenz explained that as Neill’s longtime representative, he had spoken with the family and wanted to clarify certain details for fans, confirming that pneumonia was the cause of death and that Neill had valiantly overcome lymphoma prior to falling ill.
Grenz further disclosed that Neill had filmed four projects back-to-back over the past year, all of which are expected to be released in the coming months.
He also thanked those who were genuinely close to Neill for respecting his privacy, noting the importance of that respect for his loved ones during what he described as an immeasurably difficult time.
