Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has made headlines in Nigeria after arriving in Lagos in a convoy of two Rolls-Royce vehicles.
The musician was captured in a video arriving from the airport in style before attempting to speak Yoruba to his Nigerian hosts, saying, “I am here, I have arrived.”
His gesture received positive reactions from some Nigerians who welcomed him to the country.
Shatta Wale later visited the set of popular Nigerian podcast The Honest Bunch, where he granted an interview and reportedly gifted the hosts N3 million.
The visit sparked mixed reactions on Nigerian social media platform X, with some users praising his confidence and style, while others questioned the reason behind the grand display.
“Two Rolls-Royces just for a visit? Eish, that’s showmanship. But is it for the music or the flex?” one user wrote.
Another user questioned whether the vehicles were brought from Ghana or rented in Nigeria, asking, “He bought the Rolls-Royce here in Naija before coming? Abi he rent am?”
Some Nigerians were less impressed, arguing that luxury cars are common among entertainers in Nigeria.
“He’s showing us cars even our upcoming artistes all have?” one user commented.
Others welcomed the Ghanaian musician warmly, with one person writing, “Welcome to our beloved country, enjoy your stay.”
Another jokingly added, “Shatta is more Nigerian than Ghanaian, welcome to Nigeria, the home of Afrobeat.”
The Lagos visit comes years after Shatta Wale criticised Nigerians in 2021 for not giving enough support to Ghanaian music. His comments later contributed to a public disagreement with Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy.
Many observers believe his latest visit could be an effort to strengthen his relationship with the Nigerian music industry and reconnect with the Nigerian audience.
