‘So psycho’: Outrage as Trump belts out another ‘dumb and horrible’ war claim

President Donald Trump let fly another claim about the war against Iran that outraged observers on Sunday.
Trump was greeted by reporters at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland after he returned home from attending the World Cup Final in New York earlier in the day. During a quick press conference, the president was asked about the progress of the war. His answers seemed to upset several people who watched the event.
“Mr. President, you said at the start of the war that it would be four or five weeks …” the reporter began, shouting over the humming engines of the presidential helicopter, Marine One.
“Well, this is a far bigger job that we’re doing,” Trump interjected. “We were doing a little job, stopping them from having a certain capability. Now, we’re just ending it. So, it’s really not the same thing.”
Trump’s comments horrified political analysts and observers, who shared their reactions on social media.
“Pete Hegseth has convinced this demented moron that he can “win” if he just sends ground troops and uses the rest of our munitions. This is so psycho,” Jim Stewartson, a political commentator and writer, posted to his more than 151,000 followers on X.
“He also said 53 times that the Ukraine war would end 24 hours into taking office,” Dan Koh, a former Biden administration staffer who is running for Congress in Massachusetts, told his more than 25,000 followers on X.
“What a dumb and horrible human being. Not a political message by me. Just an objective fact,” Ben Meiselas, founder of MeidasTouch, posted to his 285,000 followers on X.
“The ‘far bigger job’ is un-f—— the Strait he messed up for no reason,” the liberal outlet The Tennessee Holler posted to its 302,000 followers on X.
