Three shot including officer as police descend on Danish city after fire erupts

Three people have been shot, including a police officer and a suspect, in an incident that unfolded today in Denmark.

The shooting took place in an industrial area in the city Nørresundby on Friday afternoon, North Jutland Police said.

“We cannot say more about their condition, but it is serious, and we are massively present, deputy police inspector Søren Pejtersen said. Police rushed to the scene as they attended reports of a fire in a building.

Shots were then fired at the officers, who shot back, the police said. The perpetrator, an officer, and a third person were injured, according to reports from Danish newspaper Berlingske. Police also said that the shooting ended around 3pm local time, the newspaper also reported.

A police investigation is ongoing, and fire crews are at the scene as well. Emergency services are expected to be remain on site for several hours.
