Tinubu’s daughter present as 600 couples marry in Kebbi

Alhaja Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, the daughter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Monday in Birnin-Kebbi witness the 2026 edition of mass wedding conducted for 600 couples, the third edition of its kind, as she presented N250,000 dowry to a set of couples on behalf of the Kebbi State Government.

Tinubu-Ojo, who was the special guest at the mass wedding, presented dowries of N250,000 and marriage certificates to some selected couples in a symbolic beginning of the mass wedding.

In her short speech, the daughter of the first family commended Governor Nasir Idris and his wife for the honour done to her.

She also thanked them for organising such an important event as she admonished the newly wedded to live above board.

Earlier, in his speech, Idris announced dowries of N150 million, which is N250,000 per couple, after presenting to two selected brides.

The Governor said: “We present to you dowries of N250,000 so you could be joined in marriage as husband and wife as permitted in Islam.”

The mass wedding was organized and implemented by NANAS Foundation of the Governor’s wife, Hajia Nafisa Nasir Idris, and was attended by the Katsina State First Lady, Fatima Umar Dikko Radda; Jigawa State First Lady, Hajiya Hadiza Umar Namadi; and former Kebbi State First Lady, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, among high profile women in Nigeria.

To increase marriage bond, Dr. Bagudu donated N15 million to the 600 newly wedded, among other cash donations from politicians and public office holders.

Clerics at the mass wedding included professor Mansur Sokoto, Sheik Abdurahman Isa Jega, and famous Sheikh Aminu Daurawa.
