United reignite Ndidi interest

Manchester United are considering a move for Super Eagles captain, Wilfred Ndidi, as a potential replacement for Casemiro, though the Red Devils face competition from Hull City for the Besiktas midfielder’s signature.
The Brazilian left Old Trafford following the expiration of his contract at the end of last season, leaving United searching for a successor after missing out on several preferred midfield targets this summer, with Elliott Anderson joining Manchester City, while Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali both completed moves to Tottenham Hotspur.
That situation has forced United back into the market, with the club reviving an interest in Ndidi first shown last summer when he was keen on leaving Leicester City, before a move failed to materialise and he ended up at Besiktas instead.
Ndidi (29) has established himself as one of the Turkish Super Lig’s most dependable performers since joining Besiktas, making 31 appearances so far this season with two goals and one assist. However, a managerial change at the club has cast doubt over his future, with Besiktas placing an €8m valuation on the midfielder and willing to listen to offers.
According to Footy Africa, Hull City are also monitoring his situation, alongside interest from Saudi Pro League clubs. The newly promoted side are looking to build a squad capable of sustaining a top-flight campaign, following the blueprint set by Sunderland and Leeds United last season.
Ndidi spent eight years at Leicester City after joining from Genk, making well over 200 appearances and establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s most reliable defensive midfielders, helping the Foxes win the FA Cup and the Community Shield during his time at the King Power Stadium. He was also part of the Nigerian squad that finished on the podium at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Should a move to Old Trafford materialise, Ndidi would become only the second Nigerian player to represent Manchester United after Odion Ighalo.
