Ghanaian actor Samuel Yaw Dabo has received an enthusiastic welcome from fans upon his return to Ghana, weeks after becoming a global talking point for his “John Telly” viral moment involving Chelsea and England legend John Terry during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Video from the arrival, shared by Nahbaff Media, shows Dabo greeted by an excited crowd, including a visibly overjoyed woman who could barely contain her excitement upon meeting him in person, alongside several other well-wishers who had gathered to welcome him home.
The actor shot to international attention after a clip of him repeatedly calling out “John Telly! John Telly!” while trying to get John Terry’s attention following Ghana’s World Cup draw with England went viral, amassing millions of views and turning the mispronounced name into a global catchphrase.
The moment led to Yaw Dabo earning platform verification on TikTok and a significant boost in his social media following.
John Terry himself later sent a well-wishes message to Dabo, playfully embracing the “John Telly” nickname while wishing him and his football academy success.
