Namadi signs Jigawa Open Government Partnership Action Plan III

Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability and inclusive governance with the official signing of the Jigawa State Open Government Partnership (OGP) State Action Plan III (2026–2027).

The governor, who performed the signing ceremony on Monday in Dutse, said the initiative would deepen collaboration among the government, civil society organisations, development partners and other stakeholders in promoting good governance and accelerating sustainable development across the state.

Namadi described the Action Plan as a practical roadmap for strengthening transparency, improving public service delivery and expanding citizens’ participation in governance.

He said the document aligned with his administration’s resolve to build responsive institutions capable of meeting the needs and aspirations of the people.

“Today, by signing this document, we are reaffirming that open government is not merely a policy aspiration but a guiding principle of our administration,” the governor said.

He directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) responsible for implementing the commitments contained in the Action Plan to accord it the highest priority, stressing that its success would depend on effective collaboration among all stakeholders.

The governor also appealed to civil society organisations, development partners, the private sector, traditional and religious leaders, women, youths and persons with disabilities to sustain their support for the implementation of the Action Plan.

According to him, the state government would continue to promote openness, accountability, innovation and participatory governance as essential tools for achieving sustainable human and infrastructural development.

Namadi commended the Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Open Government Partnership Steering Committee, Alhaji Aminu Usman; the State and Non-State Co-Chairs; members of the Steering Committee; the OGP Secretariat; civil society organisations; and development partners for their contributions to the successful development of the document through an inclusive consultation process.

Earlier, the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Aminu Usman, described State Action Plan III as an evidence-based and realistic framework designed to deliver measurable improvements in governance and service delivery.

He said the document was produced following extensive consultations, technical reviews and validation involving government institutions, civil society organisations and other stakeholders across the state.

According to him, the successful completion of the Action Plan demonstrated the shared commitment of both government and non-state actors to strengthening transparency, accountability and participatory governance in Jigawa State.

Usman praised Governor Namadi for providing the political will that made the initiative possible, noting that the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance had continued to earn the confidence of citizens and development partners.

He assured that the State OGP Steering Committee would ensure effective coordination of implementation through regular monitoring, institutional collaboration and sustained engagement with stakeholders.

The deputy governor expressed optimism that the successful implementation of the 2026–2027 Action Plan would consolidate the gains of the Open Government Partnership in Jigawa State and enhance public confidence in governance.
