‘No way on this Earth!’ Legal expert aghast after Pirro concocts excuse for damning loss

A legal expert was aghast on Monday night while reacting to an excuse Jeanine Pirro concocted to explain her signature case falling apart.

Over the weekend, reporting indicated that Pirro told President Donald Trump that it was a career staffer in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C. who dropped the vandalism prosecution against Olympic canoeist David Hearn, and not her. Eli Honig, a CNN legal analyst and former federal prosecutor, reacted to the news during a panel on CNN’s “The Source.”

“There is no way on this earth, having been one of those career officials, that when your U.S. attorney calls a press conference like that, that’s covered on national news, you would then go and dismiss the case without looping in the U.S. attorney,” Honig said. “That’s a firable offense. So I do not buy that was done without her knowledge for one second.”

Pirro’s decision to drop the case against Hearn reportedly enraged Trump. During a press conference on Monday, he lashed out at Pirro, saying she “folded like an umbrella.”

Cameras also captured Pirro and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum going to the White House on Monday evening.
