Osun: Accord faction disowns Adeleke over arrested suspects

Prof. Chris Imumolen, the factional National Chairman of Accord Party, has disowned Governor Ademola Adeleke over individuals recently arrested in Osun State and being investigated by the police, saying they are not recognised members or stakeholders of the party.

He said this in a statement on Friday in reaction to Adeleke’s comment that some Accord members were being detained by the police.

The factional national chairman said the party was not aware of the individuals’ membership and urged caution in linking persons under investigation with the party.

He said: “Accord Party is built on the pillars of fairness, justice, and progress. 

“We will not allow our image to be tarnished or associated with values that run contrary to our founding principles.”

According to Imumolen, Accord remains committed to the rule of law and would not interfere with lawful investigations by security agencies.

He said anyone found to have committed an offence should face the appropriate legal process, irrespective of political affiliation.

He also welcomed a recent Court of Appeal judgment on the party’s leadership structure, saying it provided clarity on its administrative arrangements.

He added that the ruling would help strengthen the party’s internal organisation.
