The duo appeared on the field in their custom “Reiner” Dodgers jersey on Sunday, August 2, 2026, to perform the throwing of the ceremonial first pitches. Romy paired her jersey with a pair of denim shorts and black boots with matching baseball caps. Jake also donned blue denim pants with gray sneakers and a blue Dodgers cap.

Right after the throwing was done, the duo shared a very emotional hug. Jake had confessed in a previous post that setting foot in Dodger Stadium would be a bittersweet experience for him, especially due to the fact that his father was a lifelong Dodgers fan.

As shared by TMZ, the Dodgers unfortunately failed to uphold their end of the bargain (if there was any) about honoring the actor because they lost to the Boston Red Sox in an 8-4 game.

Jake also detailed his fondest memories with his mother Michelle Reiner, who would carefully plan all their family trips. While all this was going on, Jake did not forget to detail how much he bonded with Rob over their deep love for baseball, especially the Dodgers team.

He informed his readers that his sister, who witnessed the horror firsthand by walking in on their parents’ lifeless bodies in their home, will break her silence when she feels best.

Jake has been picking up the pieces of his broken heart since the incident happened, and he detailed his thoughts and feelings in a very touching epistle on his Substack. As stated by The Blast, Jake went down memory lane in the piece, recalling the moment he received the horrific call about his parents’ passing from his sister.

First it was about his dad found dead, followed by reports that his mother had also tragically passed away, all while he was celebrating the memorial of one of his best friends, Christian Anderson.

He continued that the death of his parents has robbed him of so many things in life, leaving him with a mixed feeling of betrayal, frustration, and rage. “My parents won’t be at my wedding; they won’t get to hold their future grandchild, and they won’t get to see me have the successful career I’m still seeking,” he noted.

He added that nothing prepares one for the loss of a parent, even more grave the loss of two parents at the same time. Jake noted that it still felt like a dream to be in his situation, and he wakes up every day trying to convince himself that he was living his nightmare.

Nick Reiner Reportedly Diagnosed With Mental Health Disorder 

Following the late actor and his wife’s death, Nick was held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, where he ended up on suicide watch. He was eventually removed from the list, with visits allowed from his family members who did not show up.

Jake and Romy have hinged their refusal to see him as a way to protect their mental health, and they feel it may be too soon to visit him, with the thought that the feeling may linger for a long time.

Nick was also diagnosed with schizophrenia months before the incident and was in treatment for the illness. His erratic behavior was reportedly caused by a switch in his prescription medications, which happened days before the stabbing incident.

Eyewitnesses at Conan O’Brien’s holiday party testified that the actor and Nick engaged in a heated exchange and subsequently left the venue, although no police officer was called. 12 hours after the shouting match at the party, word got out that the actor and his life were fatally stabbed.

The outburst resulted in a disciplinary violation where he temporarily lost his inmate privileges like access to phone calls, visitation, and commissary visits for five days. Nick has been held at the medical observation unit since his arrest last December, where he is separated from the rest of the general inmates.
