United Bank for Africa has introduced Emmanuel Nnorom as its new Group Chairman.
He took over the role on August 21, replacing Tony Elumelu, who stepped down after serving the maximum time allowed for non-executive directors under Central Bank rules.

The bank said his appointment comes at an important moment as the group continues to expand across Africa.
With his deep knowledge of UBA’s operations and growth, he is well positioned to lead the bank forward.
Beyond UBA, Nnorom has held senior roles at major Nigerian companies.
He was President and Chief Executive Officer of Transnational Corporation between 2014 and 2017, and has been Group CEO of Heirs Holdings since 2017
. Earlier in his career, he worked in senior management at Standard Trust Bank, Diamond Bank and other financial institutions.
