Court of Appeal sacks Abure, affirms Apapa as Labour Party national chairman

The Court of Appeal convened in Owerri, Imo State, has upheld Lamido Apapa’s position as the legitimate national chairman of the Labour Party (LP). As reported by The Punch, the Court’s ruling on Thursday also resulted in the removal of the National Working Committee led by Julius Abure.

Subsequently, the Court directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to promptly acknowledge and release the names of the governorship candidates who emerged from the leadership of Apapa within Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi states.

The court also dismissed the gubernatorial candidature of Senator Athan Achonu of Imo state, and others belonging to the Abure-led LP faction.
