Bauchi PDP suspends state legislator for insubordination

The Peoples Democratic Party Party in Bauchi State has suspended its member representing Kilfi Local Government in the state House of Assembly, Habibu Umar, for alleged insubordination.

This was stated in a letter to the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Abubakar Sulaiman.

The letter signed by the National Chairman of the party, Sama’ila Burga, stated: “The party served Habibu Umar with a letter of inquiry dated 5th November 2024 in relation to insubordination against him as he was found to have violated Section 58(9)(1) and (f) of the 2017 Party Constitution (as amended) as reported.

“The said report was submitted to Party by his Beni District and duly signed by the entire Executive Committee. ”

Burga claimed: “In light of the above, the party appointed a Disciplinary Committee on November 11, 2024, enacted under Section 10 (59) (1) of the Constitution, 2017 (as amended).

“The Committee, after rigorous review and assessment of the facts before it, found the MP guilty of the above offences and therefore recommended his immediate indefinite suspension from the party in accordance with Section 59 (4) and (5) of the party constitution.”.

He noted that in view of the above, he was suspended from participating in party activities with effect from November 25, 2024, until further developments in the party.

It was learnt from insiders that Umar was suspended due to his alleged alliance with the Minister of the National Capital Region, Nyesom Wike.
