2027: Ebonyi women back Nwali, demand declaration deadline

By Dickson Omobola
United Ebonyi Central Women for Positive Change has urged Dr Christian Nwali to formally declare his intention to contest the Ebonyi Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
The group, which includes women leaders, mothers, professionals, traders, farmers and community champions drawn, also supported the 20 days ultimatum issued by the United Ikwo Youths for Good Governance to Nwali.
A statement by the group’s Chairperson, Mrs Margaret Igwe, and Secretary, Dr Rosemary Igwe, urged every woman, whether in Ikwo, Ezza South, Ezza North, or Ishielu, to stand up, speak out and mobilise for a suitable candidate for the Ebonyi Central Senatorial seat.
The statement reads: “Guided by our unwavering commitment to the advancement, dignity, and collective prosperity of our people, and inspired by the urgent call of time and circumstance, we speak with one voice on a matter of profound significance to our Senatorial Zone.
“We take formal note of the 20-Day Ultimatum issued by the United Ikwo Youths for Good Governance to Nwali, which commenced on April 4, 2026, calling upon him to formally declare his intention to contest the Ebonyi Central Senatorial seat come the 2027 general elections.
“This ultimatum expiring on or before April 24, 2026, represents not merely the voice of Ikwo youths but the collective heartbeat of a generation that is ready for transformational leadership. The United Ebonyi Central Women for positive change stand in full alignment with this call, and we echo it with the authority of motherhood, sacrifice, and community service that only women can carry.
“Nwali is not merely a man of titles, he is a man of testimony. His life and works speak louder than any campaign speech. Through this foundation, he has touched thousands of lives with scholarships, educational materials, social development infrastructures like market building and churches, medical outreach, food support, donation of residential buildings, and empowerment programmes, reaching even the most vulnerable in our communities.
“His investments transcend concrete and commerce; they are rooted in people in schools, hospitals, markets, and communities across Ebonyi State and Nigeria.
He is a qualified architect and holder of a doctorate degree. He combines intellectual rigour with practical wisdom in the service of our people. We, the United Ebonyi Central Women, without reservation, hesitation, or equivocation, do hereby formally and unreservedly endorse Nwali as our preferred and supported candidate for the Ebonyi Central Senatorial seat in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
“Also, we endorse Governor Francis Nwifuru and President Bola Tinubu, President of Nigeria for re-election as governor of Ebonyi State and President of Nigeria respectively come 2027 general owing their giant developmental strides.
“This endorsement is issued from a place of deep conviction, born of observation, consultation, and a firm belief that Nwali possesses the character, capacity, vision, and compassion required to give Ebonyi Central Zone a powerful voice in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
We urge him, in the strongest possible terms, to heed the call of our people, the call of the youths, the call of the women, the call of the elders, and formally declare his senatorial ambition before the expiration of the 20-day ultimatum on or before 24th April 2026 otherwise we will financially mobilise to support United Ikwo Youths for Good Governance to fulfil their resolve to obtain both nomination form and expression of interest form for Senate Ebonyi Central Zone under the All Progressive Congress, APC.”
