Firm seeks permit for mini-grid projects in Kogi communities

Renewvia Solar Nigeria Limited has applied to the Kogi State Electricity Regulatory Commission for approval to develop, construct, operate and maintain solar hybrid mini-grid projects across communities in Ankpa and Olamaboro Local Government Areas of Kogi State.

The application, filed in line with the Kogi State Electricity Regulation 2024, seeks regulatory clearance for the deployment of renewable energy infrastructure aimed at expanding electricity access in the region.

In a statement issued by the company’s Head of Corporate Affairs and Business Development, Joy Bolu, Renewvia Solar said the proposed project would cover several communities across the two local government areas.

According to the statement, the affected communities include Ofugo, Olufofo, Okaba, Emanyi, Akatanpia, Ajobe, Amoke, Ala, Ogaji, Ankpa Township, Inyologu Ogaba, Allor Ochinobi, Odoeto, Etutekpe, Odagba, Ogodo, Ogbonobi, Inye, Enabo, Ejegbo, Emagaba 1, Agbaduma, Egwula, Ogugu Centre, Abache, Enelie, Abache Community, Emonyoku, Inyologu Egboje, Alaka, Afor-gam-gam, Ofante and Emabu.

It stated that the project is aimed at improving reliable and sustainable electricity supply across rural and semi-urban communities in the state.

The Commission has also called on members of the public to submit objections or representations regarding the proposed project.

According to the notice, such submissions are to be made at the Commission’s office located at Alheri Junction in Lokoja.

The proposed mini-grid development is part of ongoing efforts to expand off-grid and renewable energy solutions in underserved communities across Nigeria.
