Gov. Mohammed: What I discussed with Peter Obi

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has disclosed details of his closed-door meeting with a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peter Obi.
Mohammed disclosed the details of the meeting with the former governor of Anambra State in a tweet on his X handle on Thursday.
He said their discussions focused on key national issues, including economic recovery and the welfare of Nigerians.
He said: “Today, I received the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate and a chieftain of the ADC, Mr. Peter Obi, at the Government House in Bauchi.
“Our discussions centered on critical national issues, including economic recovery and the welfare of our citizens.”
The governor noted that the meeting also provided an opportunity to review the country’s political climate and the need for institutional strengthening.
He said: “We also took time to review the evolving political landscape and emphasized the urgent need to strengthen our democratic institutions.”
Mohammed commended the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 elections for the visit, stressing the importance of dialogue among political actors in addressing national challenges.
He said: “I commended him for the visit, as engagements of this nature foster mutual understanding and help drive practical, people-focused solutions.”
The governor also revealed that they agreed on the need for political stakeholders to prioritise national interest over partisan considerations.
He said: “We jointly urged all stakeholders to rise above partisanship and place the national interest at the forefront of all decisions.”
