A journalist has shared the traumatic experience his family suffered when armed robbers invaded his home this morning.

Ameh Godwin was sleeping at home with his wife, young children, and his brothers when a noise woke him up in the ealey hours of Sunday, April 26, 2026.
He said he looked out and saw men with guns jumping the fence into his compound.
He explained that he woke his brothers and they put on the security light.
He said the robbers then ordered them to open the door, say ing, “Open this door or we shoot you.”
They then pointed a gun through the window at his brother, the journalist said.
When no one opened, they tried to force the door open.
The journalist said they saw his daughter as they tried to force their way in and they asked her to open the door.

He said his daughter turned to him and said in fear, “Daddy, are they coming to k!ll us?”
They eventually gained entrance and asked the family to bring all the money they have. They also collected their phones, laptops, and other valuables they could lay their hands on before leaving.
The journalist shared photos of the damage done by the robbers.
He added that his fear is that his young children would live with the trauma of their experience for a long time.
