Mustapha reaffirms commitment to Service ahead of honour

Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central in the National Assembly, has reiterated his commitment to public service and societal development ahead of a traditional title to be conferred on him.

The Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Yahaya Abubakar, is set to confer the title of “Tabariki Nupe” on the lawmaker, according to reports.

A delegation from the Bida Emirate Council had earlier presented a Letter of Credence to the senator in Abuja, formally conveying the decision.

The title, derived from the Arabic word Tabarakah, signifies abundance and blessings, and is interpreted within the emirate as a mark of honour and recognition.

Reacting, Mustapha described the honour as significant and expressed appreciation to the traditional institution for the recognition.

He noted that the conferment reflects enduring cultural ties between the Bida and Ilorin emirates, adding that it serves as encouragement to continue contributing to public service.

The senator, who chairs the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Production Services and Rural Development, said the recognition would further motivate him to remain dedicated to initiatives that promote societal development.

He also pledged to uphold the dignity of the title and continue to serve with commitment.

The date for the conferment ceremony is expected to be announced by the emirate council.
