ODI hails reforms, accountability in key government agencies

The Oduduwa Development Initiative (ODI) has commended five federal agencies for what it described as strong performance in service delivery, transparency and reform efforts.

In a statement signed by its National President, Ambassador Akinyele Olasumbo, the group said its assessment of selected government institutions showed that the Bureau of Public Procurement, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Customs Service and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board stood out in 2025.

It said the agencies demonstrated notable improvements in accountability, innovation and operational efficiency at a time when many public institutions face criticism over corruption, negligence and poor service delivery.

“It has been affirmed in the minds of all productive minds that the predictive ability of the world’s intellectual class to study the past and the present in order to lay a predictive emphasis on the future is the most fundamental basis of humanistic embodiment,” the statement read.

The group attributed the performance of the Bureau of Public Procurement to reforms introduced by its Director General, Dr Adebowale Adedokun, particularly in strengthening transparency and leveraging technology to improve procurement processes.

It also credited the Nigeria Immigration Service, under Kemi Nanna Nandap, with progress in border management and modernisation, while noting that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, led by Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has expanded its role in national security support.

The group said, “Sequel to the afformentioned,the Oduduwa Development Initiative(ODI)after conducting an assessment tour of some agencies to scrutinise thier efficiency and effectiveness,we are proud to inform that the BPP, NIS, NSCDC, NCS and JAMB stood out in performance, humanitarian development and service delivery.

“At a time when government agencies are accused of ineptitude, impunity, corruption, negligence and indispline,these agencies stood above board with their level of accountability,transparency, innovation and development in fulfilment of their mandate of creation.”

The ODI further highlighted reforms in the Nigeria Customs Service under Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, citing improved revenue and community relations, and praised JAMB Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, for sustaining integrity in the conduct of public examinations, adding that it would continue to promote good governance and support performing institutions.
