Opiano Damz gains momentum with new single ‘Fire’

Nigerian music act Abdulsalam Opeyemi, popularly known as Opiano Damz, is gaining increased attention in the country’s underground music scene following the release of his latest single titled “Fire.”

The track, released under Thesalam Music Entertainment Limited owned by Abdulsalam Yusuf Adesoye, has begun gaining traction across digital platforms, with early indicators pointing to growing streams and online engagement.

Described in industry circles as a blend of Afro-fusion sound and contemporary pop influences, “Fire” features heavy percussion, melodic vocals, and a high-energy delivery that aligns with current Afrobeats trends.

Since its release, the song has started circulating on streaming platforms and social media, where users have been engaging with associated content and short-form video challenges.

Opiano Damz, who was born and raised in Lagos, has been steadily building his presence in the music industry through a series of earlier releases. His previous singles include “Flex,” “Get It,” and “Katigori,” all released in 2024, which reportedly helped establish his growing fanbase within the underground music space.

The 2024 single “Katigori” also gained additional attention after being re-released in alternate versions, including sped-up and acapella formats, which circulated on social media platforms.

In “Fire,” the artiste continues in his established style of Afro-fusion, combining rhythmic street-inspired beats with melodic hooks. The production is centred on a heavy bassline and layered instrumentation supporting his vocal performance.

While the track is still in its early stages of commercial performance, it has begun receiving attention within industry discussions as another step in the artiste’s gradual rise within Nigeria’s competitive music landscape.

Opiano Damz, whose stage name reflects a blend of melodic identity and energetic performance style, is currently signed to Thesalam Music Entertainment Limited, where he continues to work on new material.
The label has also been involved in developing his sound direction and distribution strategy as he expands his presence in the Afrobeats market.
