-APC scared of election – Adeleke

By Shina Abubakar, Osogbo

The Director General of the All Progressives Congress, APC Campaign Council, Mr Oluwole Oke, has disclosed that the party’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, AMBO, will defeat the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke fairly during the governorship election on August 15, saying the present administration’s days in office are numbered.

He said the APC would defeat Governor Adeleke by 10 pm on election day, as his team would embark on an issue-driven campaign to convince the people to vote for Oyebamiji, who he described as the “best man for the job”

Speaking during an interview after the inauguration of the Campaign Council sub-committees in Osogbo on Wednesday, Oke accused the current government of failing the people across key sectors, including education, healthcare, and agriculture.

He alleged that resources accrued to the state over the past three and a half years had been “plundered and misused,” leaving critical infrastructure in poor condition.

According to him, public schools in the state are in decline due to a lack of buildings and qualified teachers, forcing many parents to withdraw their children. He also criticised the state of healthcare services, claiming that there are no adequately equipped hospitals accessible to residents.

“The truth remains that the government has failed the people of Osun State on all fronts. Governance goes beyond the payment of salaries to civil servants. Labourers deserve their wages; paying salaries is not an achievement but a basic obligation.”

He further described the agricultural sector as underperforming, stressing that the administration had not done enough to improve food production or support farmers.

Oke, however, expressed confidence in the APC’s chances in the upcoming election, stating that the party’s campaign would focus on welfare-driven policies aimed at reducing poverty and improving living standards.

“Our party is coming back to address these issues and restore hope to the people. Through our mobilisation efforts, we will engage citizens and present a clear agenda for development. I want to remind you that we are specialists in removing sitting Governors, by 10 pm on Saturday, November 15, Governor Adeleke will be defeated at the poll fairly”, he said.

However, Governor Adeleke, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, disclosed that the APC is scared of the election over fear of losing at the polls.

The statement further revealed that opinion surveys commissioned by the Osun APC itself from the last quarter of 2025 to March 2026 have consistently placed the APC’s popularity below 30 per cent, while Governor Adeleke’s approval rating has remained between 68 and 72 per cent.

This clearly shows that Governor Adeleke enjoys overwhelming support from the people. The opposition can already see the outcome ahead of August 15.”
