“We have no political party now” – Bauchi governor’s son tells father’s supporters

Shamsuddeen Bala Mohammed says his father, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state, is currently without a political party.
Shamsuddeen made the disclosure in a Facebook post on Sunday, urging supporters to remain calm amid the development.
“I would like to draw the attention of our people… to understand that at the moment we do not have a political party. However, by God’s will, our leader will find us a platform where we can present candidates.
“We should bear in mind that it is God who grants power to whom He wills… He does not make mistakes,” he said.
Shamsuddeen urged supporters to back whoever emerges as candidate through consensus or primaries.
“Among all our aspirants, whoever is chosen… we should unite, pledge our support, and stand firmly behind them until they achieve victory,” he said.
He warned against internal divisions, saying withdrawing support over personal preferences could weaken the group.
“If we continue with the approach… and we withdraw support, then total failure will face all of us,” he said.
Bala Mohammed had earlier described himself as a “freelance politician” amid uncertainty within opposition parties.
The governor made the remark while hosting Peter Obi and stakeholders from the south-east, adding that ongoing political discussions are focused on national interest rather than party affiliation.
“Neither PDP nor ADC is standing alone. I am a freelance politician now, and my party is also in limbo. We are looking up to the judiciary.
“We cannot operate without a platform… the current political situation may even help unify us and strengthen our chances of winning elections,” he said.
