Yobe endorses Tinubu for second term

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Yobe State has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was unanimously adopted on Thursday during a stakeholders’ meeting of the party held in Damaturu, where key political figures and party leaders converged to deliberate on the state’s political direction.

The motion for the endorsement was moved by former Senate President, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, and seconded by the Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Chiroma Buba Mashio. It received overwhelming support from stakeholders present at the meeting.

Addressing party members, Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, attributed the endorsement to the perceived benefits the state has derived from its alignment with the APC-led Federal Government.

According to him, Yobe State’s consistent loyalty to the ruling party since 2015 has translated into tangible gains, particularly in the area of post-insurgency reconstruction and recovery.

“It is gratifying that our alignment with the national party and government since 2015 has attracted advantages to the state, which facilitated our reconstruction and recovery programme for the good of our people,” Buni said.

He urged residents of the state to sustain their support for the APC and back President Tinubu’s re-election bid, describing it as a continuation of policies that have positively impacted the state.

The governor also commended party stakeholders for maintaining a culture of peaceful political engagement, noting that despite differing opinions, the state has remained largely free from politically motivated violence.

“Although we may have differing political positions and opinions, we have never allowed violence in our political life. This is a testament that we are indeed the home of ‘Politics without Bitterness,’ as advocated by the late Waziri Ibrahim,” he added.

Mr Buni further expressed appreciation to the people of Yobe State for their resilience and continued support for the government’s rebuilding efforts following years of insecurity.

He also paid tribute to security personnel for their sacrifices in restoring relative peace to the state, noting that some paid the ultimate price in the fight against insurgency.

“The government and good people of Yobe State are indebted to your commitment to the fight against insecurity. Your sacrifices are not in vain, as we now enjoy relative peace,” the governor stated.

The endorsement positions Yobe among states where the APC leadership has publicly declared support for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition, signaling early political alignments within the ruling party.
