Fubara backs Tinubu for 2nd Term

… Urges Nigerians to sustain reform agenda

PORT HARCOURT – Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, urging continuity in what he described as a bold and transformative national development agenda.

Fubara made the appeal on Thursday while declaring open, a meeting of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council in Port Harcourt, where he praised the President as a “dedicated and highly patriotic” leader deserving of another mandate.

According to the governor, Tinubu’s administration has, within three years, recorded significant milestones, particularly in economic reforms and infrastructure development, and should be allowed to consolidate on those gains under the Renewed Hope Agenda if re-elected in 2027.

“We are all witnesses to the transformation of our battered economy and the ongoing infrastructural revolution, including the remarkable coastal road project in the southern and other parts of the country in just three years,” Fubara said.

He acknowledged that challenges persist in some regions but expressed confidence in the President’s commitment to national security, economic revitalisation and equitable development across the country.

Drawing an analogy from football, the governor said, “In football, the saying goes that no coach changes a winning team. Therefore, Nigerians have no choice but to support President Tinubu at this crucial time and work together to re-elect him in 2027 to continue implementing his bold, daring and ambitious vision for the inclusive and sustainable development of our nation.”

Welcoming traditional rulers from across the southern region, Fubara said their presence in Port Harcourt underscored the prevailing peace in Rivers State and reaffirmed the unity among the people of Southern Nigeria despite ethnic, cultural and linguistic differences.

He stressed the need for stronger regional collaboration, noting that cooperation among southern states would enhance knowledge-sharing, strengthen unity and accelerate the attainment of shared goals in peace, security and development.

Fubara also highlighted the strategic role of traditional rulers, describing them as critical links between government and grassroots communities with influence that extends beyond ceremonial functions.

He commended their contributions to peace and development and urged them to remain vigilant in advancing the cultural, economic and political interests of their people.

The governor further charged the monarchs to engage in productive deliberations that would foster peace, security and sustainable development in Southern Nigeria and the country at large.

The meeting drew attendance from traditional rulers across the South-South, South-East and South-West zones and focused on the role of traditional institutions in promoting unity, cohesion and development.
