The Nigeria Police Force in Bayelsa State has deployed additional security personnel and operational assets across the state ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir and Children’s Day celebrations.
Commissioner of Police, Iyamah Daniel Edebor, described the twin celebrations as significant and urged residents to embrace peace, unity, sacrifice, and responsible conduct throughout the festivities.
The security deployment followed directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at ensuring a peaceful celebration across the state.
According to the command, personnel from the Police Mobile Force, Intelligence Units, Violent Crime Response Unit, Marine Police, Special Drone Unit, and Traffic Teams have been mobilised to strategic locations statewide.
Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, markets, motor parks, waterways, and other major public places have also been placed under close security surveillance.
The police commissioner directed all units to intensify visibility policing, intelligence gathering, patrol operations, and proactive crime prevention measures during the celebrations.
“We are fully prepared to deal decisively with all forms of criminality,” Edebor warned, while urging residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and security-conscious.
He also appealed to members of the public to promptly report suspicious persons and activities to security agencies.
While congratulating Muslim faithful on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration and children on Children’s Day, the commissioner reassured residents of the command’s commitment to maintaining peace, public safety, and social harmony across Bayelsa State.
