Chelsea make Osimhen inquiry amid Pedro uncertainty

Chelsea have made inquiries about Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen as the club prepares for a significant squad rebuild under incoming manager Xabi Alonso following a disappointing 2025/26 campaign, PidomNigeria Sports Extra reports.

The Blues finished 10th in the Premier League, missing out on European football entirely, and are expected to see several players depart Stamford Bridge this summer. Among them is Brazilian forward Joao Pedro, who has attracted interest from Barcelona, raising questions about Chelsea’s attacking options heading into next season.

Alonso, who has been handed a four-year contract beginning July 1, is understood to have identified signing a new striker as a top priority, with Osimhen reported to be at the top of the club’s wishlist.

The 27-year-old had a superb 2025/26 campaign with Galatasaray, scoring 15 league goals and adding seven more in 10 Champions League appearances, totalling 22 goals across all competitions.

Galatasaray made his move from Napoli permanent last summer, breaking their transfer record to do so, and have insisted they have no desire to sell.

However, a fee in the region of €100m is believed to be capable of changing their position. Chelsea have the financial muscle to meet that figure, though they face considerable competition. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Newcastle United are all reported to be monitoring the situation.

Chelsea’s absence from European football next season could prove a significant obstacle, with Osimhen expected to want Champions League football at this stage of his career — something the Spanish clubs and potentially United can offer.
