Delta: Police nab five suspects, recover revolver pistol, Indian hemp

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested five suspects and recovered a locally made revolver pistol as well as 10 bags of substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
On May 30, 2026, at about 5:30 a.m., the surveillance team attached to the Asaba Area Command, while on routine patrol behind NTA Asaba, intercepted three suspects.
Acting on reasonable suspicion, the operatives subjected the suspects — Musa Sule (22), Moses Sunday (26), and Osama Ibrahim (25) — to a search, during which a locally made revolver pistol and other dangerous weapons were recovered.
Similarly, on May 29, 2026, at about 4:00 a.m., operatives of the State Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU), while on an intelligence-led stop-and-search operation along the Onitsha-Benin Expressway, intercepted an ash-coloured Mercedes-Benz station wagon with registration number BEN 982 TE.
The vehicle was occupied by Hilary Aloma and Oki Joseph, alias “Big Joe”.
During a thorough search of the vehicle, the operatives recovered 10 bags containing substances suspected to be Indian hemp, which had been concealed inside the vehicle.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspected illicit drugs were being transported from Edo State to Awka, Anambra State, before the suspects were intercepted by the operatives.
Confirming the arrests, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bright Edafe, said the suspects were immediately taken into custody, while the exhibits were secured as evidence.
He added that investigations are ongoing to establish the full extent of the criminal network involved and to identify other accomplices connected to the illicit trade.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for their vigilance, professionalism and commitment to duty.
He further warned individuals involved in the unlawful possession of firearms, drug trafficking, cult-related activities and other forms of criminality to desist or face the full weight of the law.
