Eid-el-Adha: NOA urges citizens to embrace sacrifice, patriotism

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Jigawa State has urged Nigerians to allow the lessons of Eid al-Adha to reflect in their daily lives as a step towards building a stronger and more united country.
This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Head of Communication and Media, NOA, Mrs Sarah Ogodo, on behalf of the state Director, Mr Ahmad Ibrahim.
According to Ogodo, the state director urged citizens to allow the spirit of the season to shape national conduct as Muslims in Nigeria joined the global Ummah to mark Eid al-Adha.
Ibrahim noted that Eid al-Adha, which commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s ultimate sacrifice and obedience to God, carries direct lessons for Nigeria’s present moment.
The NOA director identified sacrifice, discipline, compassion and selflessness as virtues that must move beyond the prayer ground into homes, workplaces and public life.
These virtues, he explained, are necessary if the country is to make meaningful progress.
“National unity is not built by slogans alone. It is built when citizens demonstrate faith in God, love for country and responsibility to one another,” the director was quoted as saying.
Ibrahim further stressed that citizens must show patriotism by supporting lawful authority and obeying the laws of the land.
The statement also urged Nigerians to promote peaceful coexistence and look out for the vulnerable in their communities.
Ogodo further stated that the director called on the Muslim Ummah in Jigawa State to emulate Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion by sharing with neighbours.
She said he encouraged extending charity to the less privileged and fostering unity across ethnic and religious lines.
The Head of Communication and Media noted that Ibrahim appreciated the Muslim community for observing a peaceful and successful Eid-el-Kabir celebration across the state.
She reaffirmed that the NOA remains committed to sensitising Nigerians on civic responsibilities, promoting national values and mobilising citizens for positive attitudinal change towards sustainable development.
