Ex-Kwara commissioner picks APC Reps nomination form

A former Commissioner in Kwara State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Abdulwahab Agbaje, has formally picked the nomination form to contest for the House of Representatives seat for the Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Agbaje made this known on Thursday in Offa during a declaration event attended by party leaders, traditional rulers, and supporters from across the constituency.

He pledged to provide effective, people-oriented representation if elected.

The gathering drew prominent stakeholders, including the Olofa of Offa, His Royal Majesty Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II, alongside other royal fathers, APC leaders, youth and women groups, as well as representatives of community and student associations.

Declaring his ambition, Agbaje said his decision was driven by a strong sense of duty to improve the quality of representation at the federal level.

“I stand before you to formally declare my intention to contest for the seat of the House of Representatives, Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency, on the platform of our great party, the All Progressives Congress.”

The former commissioner served between 2019 and 2023 under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

He noted that his aspiration is rooted in the need to give the constituency a more impactful voice in Abuja.

“This is not an ambition born of desperation. It is a mission born of conviction; a conviction that our people deserve effective representation, loud in Abuja, present at home, and felt in every ward.”

Outlining his legislative priorities, Agbaje promised to focus on job creation, improved security, and attracting federal projects to the constituency.

“I will sponsor and support bills that unlock jobs, secure our communities, and bring federal presence to our constituency. Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun will not be a footnote in the National Assembly.”

“Our roads, schools, hospitals, and markets need attention. I will leverage my network, experience, and the goodwill of our party to bring projects that matter to our people.”

He also highlighted plans to empower youths, farmers, traders, and women through targeted interventions.

He stated, “The youth need tech and enterprise hubs. Farmers need processing and access to markets. Traders need credit and infrastructure, while women deserve real support beyond slogans.

“Ifelodun, Offa, and Oyun are three names with one destiny. I will be a bridge builder. No ward will be abandoned, and no voice will be ignored.

“I will run constituency offices in each LGA and hold quarterly town halls. Every kobo of constituency allocation will be accounted for. You will not need a miracle to reach your representative.”

Reaffirming his loyalty to the APC, Agbaje said his ambition aligns with the party’s broader vision of development and service delivery.

“I am a loyal party man. This ticket is not about me; it is about expanding our party’s footprint of service and delivering the dividends of democracy to our people,” he added.

He urged party members and stakeholders to rally behind his aspiration, expressing optimism about securing both the party ticket and victory in the 2027 polls.

He said, “The road to 2027 starts now. With God, with APC, and with you, we will win; not just an election, but a better future for our constituency.”
