Favour Ofili returns to Diamond League in Rome showdown

By Emmanuel Okogba
Nigerian sprint sensation Favour Ofili is set to make her return to the prestigious Diamond League on Wednesday, June 4, when she lines up in the women’s 200 metres at the Rome leg of the series.
Ofili, 22, currently ranked World No. 8, will face one of the strongest fields of the season, including reigning World Champion Melissa Jefferson-Wooden of the United States, Olympic 200m champion Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia, and British star Dina Asher-Smith.
She has been out of competitive action in recent weeks following the collapse of her proposed switch of athletic allegiance to Turkey. She heads into the Italian capital with a season’s best time of 22.46 seconds, recorded in Gainesville, Florida last month.
The Rome 200m is expected to be a high-quality contest, offering Ofili a crucial opportunity to test herself against the world’s best as she builds momentum toward the major championships later in the season.
