FHC Judge, Justice Yunusa Dies

Late Justice Mohammed Nasir Yunusa

One of the justices of the Nigeria’s Federal High Court, Justice Mohammed Nasir Yunusa has died.

Justice Yunusa’s death was announced in a release issued and Signed by Court’s Director of Information, Catherine Oby Christopher, PhD, on Friday.

In the release, he was to have died after a brief illness and has been buried on Friday according to Islamic rites 

The statement reads: “the Federal High Court regrets to announce the passing of Hon. Justice Mohammed Nasir Yunusa of the Kano Judicial Division, who departed this life on 21 May 2026, after a brief illness.

“His Lordship passed away at the State Medical Centre, Kano, and has since been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.

“Hon. Justice M. N. Yunusa was a distinguished jurist who served with dedication, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the administration of justice. His immense contributions to the Bench and the legal profession will be fondly remembered and greatly cherished by his colleagues, members of the outer Bar, court staff, and all who had the privilege of working with him.

“The Chief Judge, Judges, Management, and Staff of the Federal High Court extend their heartfelt condolences to his immediate family and pray that Almighty God grants them the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.”
