Former footballer, Obinna Nsofor advises Victor Osimhen to leave Galatasaray for Champions League glory
Former Super Eagles forward Obinna Nsofor has advised Victor Osimhen to seek a transfer away from Galatasaray this summer, arguing that the striker needs to join a club capable of winning the UEFA Champions League to cement his status among the world’s elite.
.....
Nsofor, a silver medalist at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, acknowledged the stature of the Turkish giants but emphasized that Osimhen is currently at a level where he should be competing for Europe’s most prestigious trophy every season.
“The only thing separating him from the very top is winning at the highest level in Europe,” Nsofor stated, noting that while Galatasaray is a major club, they are not typically among the favorites to win the Champions League.
The 27-year-old Osimhen has maintained an incredible scoring record in Turkey, netting 59 goals in 74 appearances over two seasons and helping the club secure three trophies, including a fourth consecutive league title just last weekend.
His domestic form this season has been equally impressive, with 15 goals and five assists in 22 league matches. His journey from the 2015 U-17 World Cup top scorer to a Serie A champion with Napoli has already seen him finish as high as eighth in the Ballon d’Or rankings, and he is now widely considered to be entering the absolute prime of his career.

As the summer transfer window approaches, high-profile interest in the Nigerian international is surging once again. Major European powerhouses including Arsenal, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Barcelona have all been linked with the forward.
There are also reports that Jose Mourinho, who has frequently compared Osimhen to Didier Drogba, is in talks for a potential return to Real Madrid, which could further influence the striker’s next destination. After previously rejecting a move to Saudi Arabia and seeing a deal with Chelsea fall through in 2024, the general consensus among football analysts is that a return to one of Europe’s top five leagues is now inevitable.
