Gov Eno to pay rural allowances to doctors 

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has announced plans to commence the payment of rural allowances to doctors posted to rural communities in the state.

He noted that the allowances would be tied to monthly performance and attendance audits.

Governor Eno disclosed this during the commissioning of a Primary Health Centre operational base in Oron Local Government Area on Tuesday.

He also disclosed that the Ibom International Hospital would be officially flagged off in June, describing the facility as one of the best healthcare institutions in the country.

“Plans are underway to commence the payment of rural allowances to doctors posted to rural communities. You should note that the allowances would be tied to monthly performance and attendance audits,” he said.

The governor, while thanking the people for their support for him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, especially during the recently concluded All Progressives Congress primary elections, promised to do more for them, saying, “The reward for good work is more work, and by the grace of God, we will continue to put in our best to serve you.”

Speaking earlier about the newly commissioned health facility, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ekem Emmanuel, said the project goes far beyond the visible main structure, noting that the operational base also includes an administrative complex and residential accommodation for healthcare personnel to support round-the-clock healthcare services.

He also announced that the Akwa Ibom State Government would commence the distribution of 3.9 million free insecticide-treated malaria nets across the state from June 1 to June 30, adding that over 3,500 Akwa Ibomites had already been trained and engaged for the exercise.
