Kano to strengthen collaboration with FG, partners on education
The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Federal Government and development partners to improve education across the state.
Governor Abba Yusuf stated this on Friday while receiving the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Ahmed, during a courtesy visit at the Government House in Kano.
This was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mustapha Muhammad.
Yusuf said the state government would continue to support initiatives aimed at improving access to quality education and expanding educational infrastructure.
âWe will continue to collaborate and support every move aimed at developing education in Kano State,â the governor said.
He described the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment project as a major intervention strengthening education through infrastructural development and teacher support.
According to him, the AGILE project has continued to provide hope for improving learning conditions, particularly for girls and underserved communities.
Earlier, the minister informed the governor that Kano State had secured World Bank âNo Objectionâ approval for the construction of 49 new schools under the AGILE project at a cost of N23bn.
She disclosed that contractors handling the projects had already been mobilised to sites.
Ahmed said the development would significantly expand access to education for underserved communities across the state.
The minister also commended the Kano State Government for the quality of projects executed in schools across the state.
She cited one of the schools she visited and urged the AGILE project implementation team to emulate the standard set by the state government.
