Osun senator declares re-election bid, gets APC form

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Environment, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, on Thursday officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 Osun Central Senatorial seat.

Fadeyi, who was first elected into the upper chamber on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2023, has since defected to the All Progressives Congress, on whose platform he is seeking re-election in the 2027 polls.

A statement by the Special Adviser on Digital Media and Publicity to the lawmaker, Desmond Adekanola, obtained in Osogbo, said friends and political associates of the senator in Osun Central had “purchased the N20 million nomination form of the APC on his behalf at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.”

The political group of the lawmaker, Team Ajagunla, led by former Osun PDP Secretary, Akin Titiloye, described the gesture as a collective decision rooted in their belief in Fadeyi’s performance and commitment to good governance.

Titiloye said, “We are not acting alone; this reflects the widespread support he enjoys. Though friends and brothers contributed to purchase this form for him, he is currently unaware of this development.”

He further emphasised Fadeyi’s representation and legislative performance, saying, “We came together to purchase this form to ensure that the development being witnessed across Osun Central Senatorial District continues without interruption.”

He expressed optimism that if re-elected, Fadeyi would sustain and expand his developmental strides while continuing to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Osun Central.

“Ajagunnla (Fadeyi) has touched lives and continues to bring smiles to the faces of youths, adults, and the elderly across the district,” Titiloye added.

The PidomNigeria had reported that Fadeyi assured that more infrastructural amenities across the district would be pursued with renewed vigour.

The parliamentarian, in a statement signed by Adekanola, announced the completion of the Araromi/Rear Afolahan Road in Ila-Orangun, Osun State.

Describing the project as “a key road linking communities to neighbouring local government areas,” Fadeyi stated that all available instruments of government would be deployed to advance the aspirations of the senatorial district and improve the lives of residents.

The senator noted that with the successful delivery of the project, he had fulfilled one of his campaign promises to provide essential infrastructure that would drive economic growth and rural development.
