PDP aspirant declares interest in Gombe governorship election

A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in Gombe State, Hamma Saleh, popularly known as “Hamsal Airline,” has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election.

Saleh formally submitted his letter of intent on Friday during a visit to the PDP State Secretariat in Gombe, where he arrived with a delegation of supporters and members of the Hamsal Project 2027 campaign team.

The delegation, led by former Chairman of Shongom Local Government Area, Danladi Garba, included political associates and loyalists of the aspirant.

Speaking at the event, Saleh reaffirmed his commitment to the party, saying, “I remain a loyal and committed member of the PDP, and I will continue to support the growth and success of our great party in Gombe State.”

He also commended party stakeholders across all levels for their dedication, noting, “I appreciate the sacrifices of our executives from the ward to the state level who have continued to strengthen the PDP over the years.”

The aspirant further praised former Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo, describing him as “a leader who has consistently provided direction and support for the party in Gombe State.”

“I will continue to stand by the PDP at all levels as we work towards reclaiming our mandate in 2027,” he added.

Receiving the delegation on behalf of the State Chairman, the PDP State Secretary, Adamu Abubakar, described the development as encouraging.

“This visit is a positive signal for the future of our party. It shows that the PDP remains vibrant and attractive to credible aspirants ahead of the 2027 general election,” he said.

He urged party members to remain united, stressing that “Unity and commitment are key to ensuring our success in the forthcoming elections.”

Also speaking, the State Deputy Chairman of the PDP, Dan’azumi Adamu, commended Hamma Saleh for formally presenting his ambition.

“We appreciate you for following due process and formally presenting your Letter of Intent. We urge you to continue working for the unity, growth, and overall success of the PDP in Gombe State,” he said.

In his remarks, Chairman of the PDP Elders Forum in the state, Alhaji Bala Magaji, expressed optimism about the party’s chances in future elections.

“The PDP will regain its past glory and record victories again. We are confident that with committed members like you, the future is bright,” he stated.

Magaji also wished the aspirant success, saying, “We commend you for presenting yourself before the party, and we pray for success in your political journey.”

The party officially accepted the Letter of Intent and offered prayers for  Saleh’s ambition.

The event, held at the PDP State Secretariat in Gombe, attracted a large number of supporters who gathered to show solidarity with the aspirant’s 2027 governorship bid.
